Statement by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the Recent Destabilizing Situation in Yemen

August 30, 2014

1. Japan is deeply concerned about the recent destabilizing situation and growing tension in Yemen.

2. Japan strongly urges all parties in Yemen to give priority to the interest of the Yemeni people, and be united to continue the steady implementation of the outcome of the National Dialogue without resorting to coercion with or the threat of use of force. In this regard, Japan supports the Presidential Statement from the UN Security Council on the situation in Yemen issued on August 29.

3. Japan will continue to actively support the Yemeni people’s efforts for building a new Yemen through dialogue led by President Abdurabboh Mansour Hadi.
