Assistance by the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security in Paraguay and on Production Partnership with UNTV

1. The United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS), which was established by the initiative of the Government of Japan, officially notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan that the UNTFHS decided to extend assistance to the following two projects.

2. The UNTFHS will extend support totaling 1,542,056 US dollars to a project entitled “Strengthening Human Security in Four Municipalities of the Paraguayan Chaco.” The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO). This project aims to contribute to protect local communities living in vulnerable conditions and to develop capacities of the local institutions to overcome health, food, environmental and economic insecurities. This project is expected to promote human security of the vulnerable population in Paraguay.

3. Furthermore, the UNTFHS will extend assistance amounting to 125,000 US dollars to a project entitled “Production partnership between United Nations Television and the Human Security Unit.” This project aims at promoting understanding of the concept illustrating the lessons learned and successful synergy of efforts assisted by the UNTFHS to enhance human security. The project is expected to produce television features to deliver human security stories which are in an accessible way such as TV broadcast and social media to a global audience.
