Summary of the Seventh Round of Negotiations for the Japan-Colombia Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)

1. From September 8 to 12, the Seventh Round of Negotiations for the Economic Partnership Agreement between Japan and Colombia was held in Tokyo.

2. From the Japanese side, Mr. Toshiro Suzuki, Ambassador for International Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from relevant ministries attended the meeting. From the Colombian side, Mr. Javier Humberto Gamboa Benavides, Chief Negotiator, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism and representatives from relevant ministries and agencies participated.

3. In this round of negotiations, progress has been achieved in such areas as Trade in Goods, Trade in Services, Intellectual Property, Government Procurement, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS), Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT), Cooperation, Rules of Origin and Electric Commerce, among others.

4. Both sides decided to work on scheduling the dates of the eighth round of negotiations through diplomatic channels.
