The Third Japan-EU Development Policy Dialogue
1. On Wednesday, July 2, the third Japan-EU Development Policy Dialogue is going to be held in Brussels, Belgium.
2. Director General, International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Mr. Kimihiro Ishikane and other relevant officials from MOFA and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will attend the meeting from the Japanese side, while Director General for Development and Cooperation of the European Commission, Mr. Frutuoso de Melo, Fernando and other relevant officials will attend from the EU side.
3. Japan and the EU decided to further invigorate their Development Policy Dialogue and to hold the third meeting on the 2nd of July, based on the “Joint Press Statement,” which was issued on the occasion of 22nd Japan-EU Summit in May 2014. During the third Development Policy Dialogue, the two sides are scheduled to discuss Japan-EU cooperation vis-à-vis development challenges including post 2015 development agenda, gender and women’s empowerment, and policy coordination in development cooperation in Africa.
