The 2014 OSCE-Japan Conference

1. On June 16 (Mon) and 17 (Tue), a conference will be held in Tokyo at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the theme of “Sharing Experiences and Lessons Learned Between the OSCE and Asian Partners for Co-Operation in Order to Create a Safer, More Interconnected and Fairer World in the Face of Emerging Challenges”, co-hosted by Japan and the OSCE (the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe).

2. H.E. Mr. Lamberto Zannier, Secretary General of the OSCE, will visit Japan to attend this conference. Attendees will also include representatives of the fifty-seven OSCE participating States, of OSCE’s Partners for Co-operation*, and of international organizations concerned as well as experts.

3. The conference aimes to discuss various matters including confidence- and security-building measures, emerging security challenges, economy and environment, and women. Participants will share views and experiences of Asia and Europe in these fields and discuss future cooperation between the two regions.

Asian Partners for Co-operation: Japan, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Afghanistan and Australia
Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan
