Attendance to the First High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation by Mr. Seiji Kihara, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs

1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Seiji Kihara is scheduled to visit Mexico City, Mexico, from April 14th to 17th, and attend the first high-level meeting of the “Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation” to be held on April 15th and 16th.

2. Various development partners including ministerial level representatives of governments including emerging countries and developing countries in addition to developed countries, as well as representatives of international organizations, civil society organizations, and the public sector, will attend the meeting to discuss the way effective development cooperation should be going forward.

3. During the meeting, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Kihara will explain Japan’s vision on development cooperation mainly regarding south-south cooperation and triangular cooperation as well as development cooperation with middle income countries, and will also highlight its proactive contribution through development cooperation to the international society. Moreover, he is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with participants such as ministers of relevant countries.
