The group will visit Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe and Hiroshima, and experience a wide range of activities such as classroom visits, agricultural institution visits, disaster management institution visits, exchanges of views with teachers and experts, inter-faith dialogue at Todaiji Temple, traditional Japanese culture program, a home-stay program, etc.
3. This invitation of pesantren teachers, who are local opinion leaders throughout Indonesia, aims at enhancing educational exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Indonesia. It also intends to contribute to raising the quality of education in pesantren, which constitute an essential part of the educational system in Indonesia, and to encouraging the development of moderate Islam communities.
4. This program has been conducted annually since 2004. Since then we have received positive comments from participants, such that they have utilized their experiences at each pesantren back home, and also that it increased their sense of affinity with Japan.
