Holding of the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (SCC)

1.The Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (SCC) will be held in Tokyo on October 3.

2. The SCC meeting will be attended, on the Japanese side, by Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Itsunori Onodera, Minister of Defense, and on the U.S. side, by the honorable John F. Kerry, Secretary of State of the United States of America and the honorable Chuck Hagel, Secretary of Defense of the United States of America.

3. In the SCC meeting which is the first time since June 2011, taking account for the current security environment in the Asia-Pacific region, which is becoming increasingly uncertain, the members of the SCC will conduct further consultations on Japan-U.S. security and defense cooperation, and the realignment of the U.S. forces in Japan.
