On the Nigerian Presidential Election

Following the Nigerian presidential election held on February 25, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Nigeria announced on March 1 that Mr. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had been elected president.
Japan welcomes the active participation of Nigerians in the election in an orderly manner, and also congratulates Mr. Tinubu on his election.
Japan hopes that peace, democracy, good governance and socio-economic development in Nigeria will be further promoted under the leadership of the new President. Japan is committed to further supporting Nigeria’s efforts in these areas and strengthening the bilateral relationship.
