Foreign Minister Hayashi’s Meeting with Ambassadors and Representatives of Southeast Asian Countries to Japan

On October 5, 2022, commencing at 5:45 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with Ambassadors and representatives of Southeast Asian countries to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Minister HAYASHI stated that he had jointly announced with the ASEAN Foreign Ministers the official logo and catchphrase for the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and reaffirmed to work closely with them for the 50th year at the ASEAN-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in August. Minister HAYASHI also expressed his expectation for active cooperation of the Embassies of ASEAN Member States in Tokyo to create the atmosphere towards the 50th Year
- Furthermore, Minister Hayashi and the Ambassadors and representatives discussed common challenges facing Japan and ASEAN including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the most pressing issue at the moment, and agreed to continue close cooperation with each other.
