Exchange of Diplomatic Notes for the Entry into Force of the Agreement Between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of India Concerning Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services Between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Indian Armed Forces
1. On June 11, in Tokyo, the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of India exchanged diplomatic notes for the entry into force of the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of India Concerning Reciprocal Provision of Supplies and Services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Indian Armed Forces (so-called "Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement", or ACSA) (English (PDF) . With this exchange of notes, the Agreement will enter into force on July 11, 2021.
2. The Agreement establishes a framework such as the settlement procedures for the reciprocal provision of supplies and services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Indian Armed Forces. The Agreement will facilitate the smooth and prompt provision of supplies and services between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Indian Armed Forces. The Agreement was signed on September 9, 2020, in New Delhi, by H. E. Mr. SUZUKI Satoshi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India, and Dr. Ajay Kumar, Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence.
3. The Agreement will also promote closer cooperation between the Self-Defense Forces of Japan and the Indian Armed Forces, serving Japan’s security and enabling Japan to actively contribute to international peace and security.
