Removing Sudan from the U.S. State Sponsor of Terrorism List(Statement by Press Secretary YOSHIDA Tomoyuki)
December 17, 2020
- The Republic of the Sudan has been removed from the List of State Sponsor of Terrorism by the US government. As a result, Japan expects that the relations between the Republic of the Sudan and the international community will improve and it will become an opportunity to strengthen the reform and democratization with which the Transitional Government has pushed forward.
- Japan, as a member of the Friends of Sudan meeting, has proactively engaged itself in the international discussion toward the peaceful transition to civilian rule in the Republic of the Sudan. Japan appreciates the reform effort by the Transitional Government since last year and is further committed to supporting the Sudan's nation-building and democratization in response to this decision.
