State Minister Sato Visits Lebanon

Mr. Masahisa Sato, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited Lebanon from September 2 to 3.
1 Meeting with the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees(UNHCR) in Lebanon
On September 2, Mr. Sato visited Zahlah, located in central Lebanon and met with Ms. Mireille Girard, UNHCR Representative in Lebanon. They exchanged views on the refugee issues. Mr. Sato also visited an area in Zahlah where many Syrian refugees inhabit.
2 Visit to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon(UNIFIL) and the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization(UNTSO)
On September 3, Mr. Sato visited the headquarters of UNIFIL, in Naqoura in Southern Lebanon and met with Major-General Michael Beary, Head of Mission and Force commander of UNIFIL. They exchanged views on the situation of southern Lebanon. Mr.Sato was briefed on the operations of UNIFIL and UNTSO.
