  1. On January 30, the Agreement between Japan and the Slovak Republic on Social Security (PDF) (hereinafter referred to as "Agreement") was signed in Bratislava between H.E. Mr. Jun Shimmi, Ambassador of Japan to the Slovak Republic, and H.E.Mr.Jan Richter, Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic.
  2. As for Employees sent from Japan to the Slovak Republic as well as those sent from the Slovak Republic to Japan, there are currently problems such as being subject to compulsory coverage under the pension systems of both countries. The Agreement is aimed for solving these problems. Upon the entry into force of this Agreement, the employees temporarily sent from either country to the other will be covered in principle, only by the pension system of the former country until the expiration a period of five years. The Agreement will also enable those employees to establish eligibility to receive pension benefits in each country by totalizing the periods of the coverage of both countries.
  3. It is expected that the conclusion of this Agreement will reduce the burden imposed on companies and employees, thereby further facilitates people-to-people and economic exchanges between Japan and the Slovak Republic.
