Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on the Terrorist Bombing in Lebanon

1. Japan is deeply shocked and outraged by the terrorist bombing incidents at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Lebanon which caused many deaths and casualties, in the Southern Beirut on November 19. Japan expresses its condolences to the bereaved families and its heartfelt sympathies to those injured.
 
2. No act of terrorism can be justified for whatever reason or purpose. Japan firmly condemns such act of terrorism. 
 
3. Japan supports the position of H.E. President of Republic of Lebanon General Michel Sleiman and other political leaders who call for restraint between all concerned parties in order not to escalate the conflict in Lebanon by these terrorist bombing incidents.
