Japan’s contribution to The Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) at the International Criminal Court (ICC)

  1. The Government of Japan will make a first voluntary contribution of approximately €600,000 to the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
  2. As Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed at a gathering of the North Atlantic Council of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) in Brussels on 6th, Japan attaches a great importance to the role of ICC to prosecute and punish in accordance with the international law those individuals who have committed the most serious crimes such as war crimes, and is of the view that through the contribution it will continue the support for the victims under armed conflicts including the protection of women.
  3. €400,000 is earmarked for victims of sexual and gender based violence.
