Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi’s Visit to the United States and Mexico

  1. Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi is scheduled to visit the U.S. and Mexico from April 27 to May 2.
  2. In the U.S. (New York), Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Kishi will attend the Third Session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2015 Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and deliver a Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Initiative (NPDI) Joint Statement as the Chair of the NPDI. He is also scheduled to host a luncheon for Permanent Representatives of several African countries to the UN and exchange views with President of the General Assembly John W. Ashe.
  3. In Mexico, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Kishi is scheduled to hold meetings with Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Carlos Alberto de Icaza González, amongst other authorities, and conduct visits to Japanese schools and Japanese companies that have entered Mexico. Furthermore, the Senior Vice-Minister is also scheduled to attend the 12th National Convention of Nikkei (Japanese descendents) 2014.
  4. This visit will aim to enhance diplomatic activities of the Government of Japan at the UN diplomacy by presenting Japan’s commitment to nuclear disarmament and nonproliferation, and is also expected to further advance the bilateral relationship between Japan and Mexico by enhancing political and economic ties as well as strengthening exchanges with Japanese descendents and Japanese nationals residing in Mexico.
