Emergency Grant Aid in response to the earthquake in western Afghanistan

On October 17, the Government of Japan decided to extend Emergency Grant Aid of USD 3 million through international organizations in areas of food, health and other needs, in response to the devastating damages caused by the intermittent earthquakes that struck western Afghanistan.
In addition to this assistance, Japan has decided to implement a Grant Aid of approximately USD 1.46 million to be implemented as Japan’s ODA via the Japan Platform (JPF).

The Government of Japan will continue to stand by the people of Afghanistan and continue its efforts to improve the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

    • United Nations World Food Programme (WFP): Food [USD 1 million]
    • International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC): Health [USD 1 million]
    • International Organization for Migration (IOM): Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) [USD 1 million]
  2. Japanese NGOs (via Japan Platform (JPF)): approximately USD 1.46 million (JPY 200 million) Food, Non-Food Items etc.
