Talk between OKANO Masataka, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Gilad COHEN, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel
On October 11th, commencing from 4:55 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. OKANO Masataka, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a talk with H.E. Mr. Gilad COHEN, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel, to discuss the situation surrounding Israel and Palestine. The overview is as follows:
- Vice-Minister Okano, expressing solidarity with the Israeli people who are facing the historic challenge, stated that Japan unequivocally condemns the recent terror attacks by Hamas and other Palestinian militants.
- Furthermore, Vice-Minister Okano stated that the brutal, indiscriminate attacks of this time cannot be justified and it is obvious that Israel has a right to defend itself and its people in accordance with international law in response to these attacks. Vice-Minister Okano then expressed Japan’s hope that the situation will be calmed down as soon as possible.
- Vice-Minister Okano and Ambassador Cohen concurred to continue working together toward stabilization of the region.
