Provision of Generators to Ukraine

Since January 20, 237 generators from the Government of Japan through JICA has been arriving in Ukraine.
- The large-scale blackout has continued in various areas of Ukraine due to destruction of a large part of energy infrastructure facilities by Russia’s attacks. The Government of Japan has decided to provide 262 generators as support to protect the lives of the people of Ukraine who are in full-fledged winter. Following the provision of 25 generators including 4 donated from “Overwintering support initiative JAPAN to send generators to Ukrainian people” last December, 237 generators have been shipping to Ukraine since January 14. These generators are to be handed over to companies of electric power, water and gas supply in Ukraine, and to be utilized for securing energy sector.
- The Government of Japan will continue to provide support for and stand by the people of Ukraine who are facing hardship, in collaboration with the international community, including the G7 members.
