The declaration of humanitarian ceasefire in Tigray region, Ethiopia

  1. Japan pays close attention to the “unilateral humanitarian ceasefire” in the Tigray region declared by the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on June 28 from the perspective of improving the humanitarian and human rights situation in the region.
  2. Japan continues to call for immediate and effective humanitarian access in the entire Tigray region, an immediate withdrawal of Eritrean forces and holding those responsible for human rights violations accountable in a prompt and tangible manner. Japan calls on all parties concerned to take this opportunity to make further efforts to realize peace and stability in the Tigray region.
  3. Japan will continue to work with the international community towards the early settlement of the situation.
