  1. The 20th meeting of the Committee for the Promotion of the Declassification of Diplomatic Records was held on Febuary 28th at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  2. At the meeting, the members of the committee(PDF)Open a New Window discussed declassifcasion of diplomatic records created more than 30 years ago, including the files regarding the visit by Mr. Nobusuke Kishi, Prime Minister of Japan, to the United States in June 1957.
  3. Based on the review by the Committee, the files will be transferred to the Diplomatic Archives and for release to the public, immediately upon completing necessary procedures.
  4. The Committee also reviewed a document with redacted parts and decided to declassify those parts.
