At the IPSTC in Kenya, Captain Hideki Hayashi is scheduled to give lectures at a training course on protecting civilians in PKO activities (from September 29 to October 10), and at the EIPKTC, Lieutenant Colonel Norihisa Urakami is scheduled to prepare and administer a training course on conflict prevention (from October 13 to 23) and give lectures at the course.

2. Based on the recognition that peace is a prerequisite for development, Japan has been providing assistance to African peacekeeping training centres with the goals of enhancing the peacekeeping capabilities of African countries and of maintaining the stability of the region. The dispatch of these instructors is also part of Japan's support for the IPSTC and the EIPKTC. Japan intends to continue to provide meaningful assistance towards peace and security in Africa not only on the financial front, but also by drawing upon Japan’s qualified human resources.
