Public-Private Joint Practical Training for Counter-Terrorism and Anti-Kidnapping Measures

Foreign Press Secretary KITAMURA Toshihiro: I have one announcement at the outset. I would like to inform you about the Public-Private Joint Practical Training for Counter-Terrorism and Anti-Kidnapping Measures.

On Thursday, January 29, we will hold the Public-Private Joint Practical Training for Counter-Terrorism and Anti-Kidnapping Measures at Mita Kaigisho. Approximately 80 people, mainly from private-sector companies, together with Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) personnel, are scheduled to participate in the practical training.

This training has been conducted since 2018, based on the lessons learned from the terrorist attack in Dhaka in 2016, exactly 10 years ago, in which personnel related to Japanese companies were among the victims. The training aims to strengthen the overseas safety measures of Japanese companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.

The overseas operations of Japanese companies are founded on safety measures. MOFA considers it important to support the overseas expansion of Japanese companies also from the perspective of safety. Now that overseas travel is increasing again following the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe it is necessary to return to the very fundamentals of safety measures. I hope this opportunity will help contribute to that effort.

Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23. There are still a limited number of places available, and we encourage any business representatives interested in the training to participate.
