Watanabe, NHK: My first question is on Japan and North Korea. Concerning the agreement reached in Stockholm between Japan and North Korea on lifting of sanctions, Mr. Song Il Ho from the North Korean side stated to the press in Beijing that there could be room for discussion in the future regarding the Japanese side’s position that lifting the ban on entry of Man Gyong Bong into a Japanese port is not included. It seems that there is a little gap in the understanding of the lifting of sanctions between the Japanese and North Korean sides. What does the Government of Japan consider about it?

Minister for Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida: Concerning Man Gyong Bong, the North Korean side has not applied for its entry into a Japanese port at present, nor does the Government of Japan have any plan to admit its entrance. This is the current situation.

Watanabe, NHK: So do you mean that any gap in understanding of the lifting of sanctions basically does not exist?

Minister Kishida: The Government of Japan has no plans to admit the entrance of the ship into any port anyway.

Watanabe, NHK: Inauguration of new Ukrainian President Mr. Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko will be held on June 7. How will the Government of Japan respond to this?

Minister Kishida: We recognize that the establishment of a new administration in Ukraine through a democratic procedure is an important step for the peace and stability of Ukraine. Concerning the inauguration ceremony, we have received an invitation from the Ukrainian side. It is scheduled on June 7 and we are currently considering who will attend the ceremony, taking the schedule into consideration.

Watanabe, NHK: Could you tell us the reason why you chose that Kariyushi shirt today?

Minister Kishida: This is the shirt that people from Okinawa gave me the other day and the newest one that I have. I decided to wear this taking this opportunity. I think that the cabinet meeting today was held in a bit more relaxing atmosphere than usual.

Yamazaki, Fuji TV: How do you feel wearing it?

Minister Kishida: Very comfortable. Since I have served as the Minister of State for Okinawa, I know that Kariyushi reflects the history, tradition and thoughts of the people of Okinawa. When I wear it, I feel such thoughts as well as comfort.
