The Situation in the Republic of Guinea (Statement by Press Secretary YOSHIDA Tomoyuki)

- Japan is deeply concerned that President Condé of the Republic of Guinea has been detained by force by a group of Guinean army soldiers since September 5.
- Japan strongly condemns such actions and calls for the immediate, safe and unconditional release of President Condé in line with the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), among others.
- Japan calls for restoration of constitutional order in the Republic of Guinea at an early date.
