1 Japan is profoundly shocked and outraged by the large number of deaths and injuries by the bombing incident on Monday, August 17 in the central area of Bangkok, Thailand.

2 Japan expresses its deep condolences for those who have been killed and the bereaved families, and also extends its heartfelt sympathy to those wounded in the incident. Japan also expresses its solidarity with the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and its citizens, which respond to the incident.

3 The Government of Japan will continue to take necessary measures, in coordination with the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand, in order to ensure the safety of Japanese people and smooth operation of Japanese companies, as there is the large number of Japanese residents in Bangkok.
