Terrorist Attack in Afghanistan(Statement by Foreign Press Secretary Yasuhisa Kawamura)

July 25, 2016
  1. Japan is greatly shocked and indignant at the terrorist attack with a suicide bomb in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan which targeted the people participating in a demonstration in response to the decision by the Afghan government on the route of power-transmission line, on July 23 (same day local time). Japan expresses its sincere condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families. Japan also extends its heartfelt sympathies towards the injured, and prays for their earliest recovery.
  2. Such act of terrorism, which tramples on efforts for peace and reconstruction of Afghanistan, can never be tolerated for any reason, and Japan firmly condemns it. Japan reiterates that it condemns terrorism of all forms regardless of its purposes and that no act of terrorism can be justified.
  3. Japan is actively working for stability of Afghanistan in the fields of political process, security and reconstruction assistance, under the objective of ensuring that Afghanistan will never fall again into a hotbed of terrorism. Japan will continue its support for that end.
