Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Suzuki receives courtesy call by Mr. Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Vice-Chair of the Global Partnership for Education

On Wednesday, August 28th 2019, commencing from 12:00 for about 30 minutes, Mr. Norikazu SUZUKI, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call by Mr. Serigne Mbaye Thiam, Vice Chair of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), and Minister for Water and Sanitation of Senegal. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
1. Mr. Suzuki stated that Japan is making a nationwide effort to promote SDGs based on the ideal of human security, especially focusing on “empowerment of youth and women” as one of three pillars of SDGs promotion and appreciated GPE’s efforts in supporting education sector planning in Africa and girls’ education. He expressed his expectation towards collaboration between GPE and Japanese private sectors and NGOs.
2. In response, Vice-Chair Thiam thanked Japan’s support to GPE and expressed his expectation for Japan’s leadership in education cooperation through GPE. The two then shared views on advancing cooperative relationship between Japan and GPE.
