(Japanese)
Seminar registration closed
An open seminar will be held on Friday, 24 August, with the aim of introducing current efforts regarding the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism and enhancing better understanding about the mechanism.
1. Objective
The government of Japan is proposing the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (hereinafter referred to as BOCM) as a new mechanism which complements the current mechanisms such as the clean development mechanism (CDM) in order to contribute to global greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals. The mechanism aims to further facilitate diffusion of low carbon technologies globally, through introduction of leading low carbon technologies and products in developing countries and proper evaluation of emissions reductions resulting from those technologies and products.
Currently, the Government of Japan, in partnership with relevant ministries and agencies, proceeds with discussions towards establishment of the BOCM and has been discussing with some East Asian countries, while promoting policies including this mechanism to assist developing countries.
The seminar aims at introducing current efforts regarding the BOCM and enhancing better understanding about the Mechanism.
