Miyazaki has long been a traditional honeymooner's resort, and it is said that 40% of Japanese honeymooners chose to come here in the days before the foreign travel boom.
Seagaia, a large-scale resort and convention facility possessing a variety of resort facilities, opened in 1994 attracting both domestic and international businessmen and vacationers. The number of tourists coming to Miyazaki from such foreign regions as Hong Kong and Taiwan is on the rise, and Miyazaki is entering a new phase as a favored tourist destination.
