FOREIGN MINISTER’ DINNER HOSTED BY MINISTER KONO

On June 28, Foreign Minister Kono Taro, who is attending the G20 Osaka Summit, hosted a dinner for foreign ministers of G20 members and guest countries. The ministers had informal talks in a relaxed atmosphere over dinner. It also presented an opportunity to convey to the world the food culture of Osaka (the Summit host city), the Kansai region, and Japan. The traditional Japanese meal, beautifully reflective of the summer season, consisted of an abundance of specially selected fresh produce, including seafood and vegetables sourced in Kansai, and other delicacies. Guests also enjoyed a performance of Kyogen, a traditional comic theater art, performed by the Shigeyama Sengoro Family of Kyogen actors based in Kyoto, which has a lineage dating back around 200 years.
