First Meeting of the Sub-Committee on Promotion of a Closer Economic Relationship established under the Agreement on Free Trade and Economic Partnership between Japan and Switzerland

- The first meeting of the Sub-Committee on Promotion of a Closer Economic Relationship, established under the Agreement between Japan and Switzerland was held on 1 June 2010 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo.
- The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Atsushi KAIFU, Director of Central and South Eastern Europe Division, European Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Massimo BAGGI, Head of Bilateral Economic Relations Asia/Oceania Section, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Federal Department of Economic Affairs (FDEA), Switzerland.
Participants on the Japanese sides were from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and on the Swiss side, SECO and Embassy of Switzerland in Tokyo. Specialists from the private sector of both sides also joined the meeting. - At the meeting, both sides reviewed economic outlook of both countries as well as the bilateral economic relationship. Both sides also exchanged views on the possible measures towards closer economic relations and other issues.
