Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI and Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi

On February 17, from 2:50 p.m. (9:50 a.m. February 17, local time) for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman during his visit to Muscat, Oman, to attend the 8th Indian Ocean Conference. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- Foreign Minister Badr expressed that Oman aims to develop the region based on its comprehensive foreign policy founded on peace and security, and that Oman hopes to deepen cooperation with Japan in the field of maritime security, touching upon the importance of the activities of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force to counter piracy.
- State Minister Miyaji expressed his gratitude for the logistical support provided by Oman to the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force carrying out anti-piracy operations, and for the efforts made by Oman in realizing the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader, and also expressed his hope that the Oman Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo would be a success and that many Omanis would visit Japan.
- Both sides concurred to further deepen the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries and to cooperate in promoting exchanges.
