Japan-Austria Relations

 On September 9, commencing at around 3:30 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. ABE Shinzo, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz, Chancellor of the Republic of Austria. The overview of the talk is as follows.

  1.  At the outset, Prime Minister Abe explained that he was stepping down from his position as Prime Minister, and thanked Chancellor Kurz for his message and for his cooperation to this date including the visit by Chancellor Kurz to Japan on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of friendship between Japan-Austria last year.
  2.  Chancellor Kurz responded by expressing his sincere regrets on the matter of Prime Minister Abe's resignation, thanking him for the cooperation in the past and promising to build a good relationship with Prime Minister Abe’s successor for a further development of the relations between Japan and Austria.
  3.  Chancellor Kurz expressed his hope to stay in personal contact with Prime Minister Abe after his resignation and to welcome him in Austria. Prime Minister Abe responded that he looks forward to meeting Chancellor Kurz again in the near future.
