Sports, Science and Technology and a moderator


1 On October 6, the Next Generation Task force FORUM, which is one of the subcommittees of the United States-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON) was convened in Tokyo.
2 The forum was participated in by Mr. Ryozo Kato, Japan CULCON Chair (Former Ambassador of Japan to the United States), Mr. Harry A. Hill, U.S. CULCON Chair (Member of the Board, New Business Development, Oak Lawn Marketing. Inc.) ,Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and H.E. Mr. William F. Hagerty, U.S. Ambassador to Japan. Also, panelists from private sectors such as business and academia as well as many experts in various fields attended the forum.
3 This forum discussed topics including “The next generation for the relationship between Japan and U. S. ”, “Pathways for Supporting the Next Generation “,“The Future of U.S.-Japan Collaboration” and “Building U.S.-Japan Networks to Meet 21st Century Needs”. Following the forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan hosted a reception where a welcome message of Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs was introduced. (Reference)
CULCON is a public-private conference which was established in June 1961 by a joint statement announced by Prime Minister Ikeda and President Kennedy.
