From January 14 to January 16, Mr. OUE Sadamasa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, visited the Island of Guam, the United States of America. The overview of the visit is as follows:

  1. Special Advisor OUE visited the sites where the Guam relocation projects are being carried out including U.S. Marine Corps base Camp Blaz and received explanations on the status of projects from U.S. Forces in Guam. Moreover, on the occasion of this visit, Special Advisor OUE exchanged views with Rear Admiral Brett Mietus, Commander, Joint Region Marianas and Brigadier General Charles D. Cooley, Commander, 36th Wing, Andersen Air Force Base on Japan-U.S. security policy and regional affairs.
  2. Special Advisor OUE also met with Governor Lou Leon Guerrero to exchange views on Japan-Guam relations and to express his appreciation for understanding and cooperation regarding the relocation project.
  3. In addition, Special Advisor OUE visited the South Pacific Memorial Park to lay a wreath and offer a silent prayer.
