On March 31, 2025, commencing at 10:00 am, for approximately 35 miniutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from the delegation of the United States House of Representatives attending the Japan-U.S. Iwo-To Reunion of Honor Ceremony.

The overview of the courtesy call is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Ishiba welcomed the delegation of the United States Representatives on their visit to Japan, and stated that the Japan-U.S. Iwo-To Reunion of Honor Ceremony recently held was extremely meaningful for both Japan and the United States.
  2. Prime Minister Ishiba stated that Japan and the United States are tied with deep trust and multilayered amicable relationship, and are global partners working together for issues of international community, expressing his gratitude to bipartisan strong support for the Japan-U.S. Alliance within the United States Congress, and called for cooperation to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). The attending Representatives agreed to these points.
  3. In addition, both sides concurred on the importance to strengthen Japan- U.S economic relations, including through trade and investment.
