On January 7, commencing at 3:20 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from the Honorable Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, during his visit to Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. CCS Hayashi expressed his gratitude to Secretary Blinken for his contributions to the Japan-U.S. Alliance. The two sides comprehensively reviewed the progress of Japan-U.S. relations, including networks of like-minded countries such as Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK), and shared the importance of continuing working closely to further uphold and bolster the Japan-U.S. relationship, which has become stronger than ever. The two sides also exchanged their views on the economy and affirmed the importance of the bilateral economic ties including investment by Japanese companies.
  2. The two sides also exchanged their views on regional situations, including China, North Korea, Ukraine, and the Middle East.
