On January 7, commencing at 3:20 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from the Honorable Antony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, during his visit to Japan. The overview is as follows.
- CCS Hayashi expressed his gratitude to Secretary Blinken for his contributions to the Japan-U.S. Alliance. The two sides comprehensively reviewed the progress of Japan-U.S. relations, including networks of like-minded countries such as Japan-U.S.-Republic of Korea (ROK), and shared the importance of continuing working closely to further uphold and bolster the Japan-U.S. relationship, which has become stronger than ever. The two sides also exchanged their views on the economy and affirmed the importance of the bilateral economic ties including investment by Japanese companies.
- The two sides also exchanged their views on regional situations, including China, North Korea, Ukraine, and the Middle East.
