On March 29, commencing at 6:15 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from the Honorable Caroline Bouvier Kennedy, Honorary President, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Australia. Prime Minister Kishida received the “Profile in Courage” Award lantern from Ambassador Kennedy. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida stated that he was honored to receive the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award and stated that there is a lot to learn from President Kennedy as the international community stands at a turning point in history.
  2. Prime Minister Kishida also stated that he would continue to contribute to the peace and prosperity of the international society in cooperation with President Biden of the United States of America and the President Yoon of the Republic of Korea.
  3. Ambassador Kennedy congratulated Prime Minister Kishida on receiving the John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award and presented the Award lantern to him.

The John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award was created in 1989 by members of President Kennedy’s family to honor President John F. Kennedy and to recognize and celebrate the quality of political courage that he admired most.
