1. On May 27, Mrs. Akie Abe, the spouse of Prime Minister Abe hosted a cultural event and a lunch for Mrs. Melania Trump, First Lady of the United States of America, who is paying a State Visit to Japan at the Japanese Style Annex, Yushintei of the State Guest House at Akasaka Palace.

2. First, they received an explanation about the activities of Shine On! Kids, an NPO that supports sick children. Secondly, they appreciated a musical performance by Mr. Yosuke Irie, master of Japanese vertical bamboo flute “Shakuhachi;” a demonstration of “Ikebana” flower arrangement by Master Instructor Mrs. Kumiko Kato; and the Japanese classical dance “Nihon Buyo” performed by Yukari Onoe and children. It was a good opportunity to introduce Japanese culture to Mrs. Trump and promote it at the same time. The First Ladies then enjoyed lunch.
