Watching Grand Sumo Tournament by Prime Minister & Mrs. Abe and President & Mrs. Trump



1. On May 26, commencing at around 5:00 p.m. for approximately fifty minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, and Mrs. Akie Abe and the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and Mrs. Melania Trump who are paying a State Visit to Japan watched Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan. Prime Minister Abe conferred the Prime Minister’s Cup and President Trump conferred the U.S. President’s Cup to the champion of the sumo tournament.
2. The venue was filled with excitement. It was a meaningful occasion from the viewpoint of deepening Japan-U.S. exchanges through sumo wrestling and publicizing the Japanese culture including sumo as well.
