Japan-Canada Summit Telephone Talk
On October 26, commencing at just after 10:35 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minster of Japan, held a telephone talk with the Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada. The overview of the telephone talk is as follows.
1. At the outset, Prime Minister Trudeau congratulated Prime Minister Abe on the victory in the House of Representatives election and he stated that he looks forward to continuing to work with Prime Minister Abe toward the next G7 Summit, which Canada will chair.
2. In response, Prime Minister Abe explained that during the election campaign he emphasized the threat posed by North Korea and the necessity for the international community to work together to exert maximum pressure on North Korea. Furthermore, Prime Minister Abe said that Japan will extend its full cooperation toward the success of the G7 Summit in Canada.
3. The two leaders also exchanged views on issues including APEC.
