Diplomats’ Study Tour in Kansai

On July 9 and 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan conducted a Diplomats’ Study Tour together with the Union of Kansai Governments, with the participation of 18 ambassadors and others from 16 countries. Under the theme of “Tour exploring the symbiosis of nature and civilization in the Kansai region”, the program introduced the Kansai region's diverse attractions to the diplomats in Japan through the visit of advanced initiatives and technologies that coexist in harmony with nature.

Yamagata’s “Tsuyahime” celebrates 10th Anniversary in Hawaii !

Yamagata Pref.’s promotion of its premium rice brand “Tsuyahime” in Hawaii, USA marks its 10th anniversary this year. To celebrate this milestone, raise awareness and promote exchange in Hawaii, a variety of events were held. At a reception hosted at the Japanese Consulate General’s residence, dishes featuring Tsuyahime and Yamagata beef were highly praised, and a perfomance by the Sakata Maiko, traditional female dancers was also presented. In addition, a food promotion event at a local community college in Hawaii led to students visiting Yamagata, deepening mutual exchange even further. Today, Tsuyahime is no longer just a premium rice brand — it has become a vital bridge connecting Yamagata and Hawaii.

On July 23, local government officials working at MOFA visited the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). They gained valuable insights into overseas project development and local government collaboration, benefiting their future work.

The Japan Agricultural Exchange Council conducts international cooperation projects in the agricultural sector and one of its projects contributed to the establishment of a sister city relationship between Minami-Maki Village and La Trinidad. This article introduces the Council's initiatives aiming for a "coexistence and co-prosperity society," and exchanges between the two municipalities.
