Public Diplomacy

On January 11, Local Partnership Cooperation Forum was held online under the three themes of “Economic Diplomacy and Public-Private Partnerships”, “International contribution and exchange through the re-use of the fire engines and ambulances etc. from local governments” and “Recent situations regarding the tourism of the inbound visitors after the COVID-19, and efforts in Regions”. Invited speakers gave lectures and exchanged opinions with participants.

In 2024, Nagoya and Los Angeles celebrate the 65th anniversary of their Sister City partnership. As part of efforts to mark the 65th anniversary, in November 2023, “Explore Nagoya and Central Japan,” event to promote inbound tourism in Nagoyafor the related people of US tourism indutry. was held at the Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles.

Governor Suzuki of Hokkaido Prefecture visited Viet Nam on the occasion of HOKKAIDO FESTIVAL in HA LONG in November 2023. He promoted Hokkaido Prefecture to strengthen economic and human exchanges eto xpand sales channels of food products made in Hokkaido, and to increase inbound tourism.

The year 2023 marked the 480th anniversary of relations between Japan and Portugal. These two countries conducted active exchanges such as the visit by Governor Oishi of Nagasaki Prefecture to Porto City in June, the visit by Mayor Moreira of Porto City to Nagasaki City in October, and the visit by Ambassador Ota of the Embassy of Japan in Portugal to the Omura City and Nagasaki City in December.
