Emperor's Birthday Celebration Reception (Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta)
On February 21, the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta hosted the 2023 Emperor's Birthday Celebration Reception in Atlanta, Georgia. In this reception six local governments of Japan that have sister city relationships with the Southeastern state and cities in the United States promoted their regional attractions with exhibition booths.



Host Town exchange: Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year 2024 (Nanyo City, Yamagata Prefecture, and Barbados)
Nanyo City in Yamagata Prefecture has been promoting exchanges with Barbados as a Host Town, and ambassador Fukushima of Japan to Barbados visited Nanyo City in Yamagata Prefecture to exchange views in preparation for the Japan-CARICOM Friendship Year 2024 next year.



Local government exchange with Dornogovi province, Mongolia (Embassy of Japan in Mongolia)
Niigata Prefecture has been working on a JICA Partnership Program in Dornogovi province since 2009. Also, Shizuoka Prefecture has been continuing active friendly relations with Dornogovi province for more than 10 years. In this connection, an official of the Japanese Embassy in Mongolia visited Dornogovi province.



Sister city relationship: Rujena Town (Valmiera County) and Higashikawa Town, Hokkaido (Embassy of Japan in Latvia)
Sister City relationship between Rujena Town and Higashikawa Town celebrates the 15th anniversary this year. Relating this context, ambassador Takase of Japan in Latvia visited Valmiera County and Higashikawa Town for developing their exchange.



Danish lifestyle “Hygge” found in Kama City
Kama City puts a lot of efforts into promoting outdoor amusement as tourism resources after the example of Silkeborg City in Denmark. A Coordinator for International Relations from Denmark working at Kama City Office talks about strategies of Kama City and the Danish lifestyle: “Hygge.”
