Courtesy visit to Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Okamoto by Young Officials of FEALAC (Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation) member countries

On March 2, 2018, 9 young officials of FEALAC member countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Laos, Mongolia, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, Uruguay) who were invited to Japan through the "FEALAC Young Leaders Invitation Program" paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Mitsunari Okamoto, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The summary of the visit is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Okamoto welcomed the young officials of FEALAC member countries and expressed his wish that the participants of the program deepen the understanding of "the use of technology to build a sustainable society", the theme of this program, for issues which are of common concern among FEALAC member countries such as disaster risk reduction and prevention. He stressed that participants utilize it for their future policy making and share what they learnt and experienced in Japan in their respective countries. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Okamoto expressed his hope that their visit would be fruitful emphasizing the importance of ties of the participants.
  2. In return, the representative of the program's participants expressed their gratitude to the Government of Japan for the invitation and stated their wish to deepen the knowledge and know-how of Japanese technology and effort against natural disasters, and share their experience acquired through this program in their respective countries after the program.
