Meeting between Mrs. Akie Abe, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan and Mrs. Lorena Castillo de Varela, the spouse of the President of Panama
On April 4th, Mrs Akie Abe, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan had a meeting with Mrs. Lorena Castillo de Varela, the spouse of the President of Panama, who was visiting Japan for the first time since 2016.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. Mrs. Abe welcomed Mrs. Castillo de Varela's visit to Japan. Mrs. Castillo de Varela thanked for Mrs. Abe's warm reception and expressed her pleasure to begin and to finish her official visits as the spouse of the president both in Tokyo.

Mrs. Castillo de Varela stated that she placed an importance to continue to tackle HIV/AIDS issues, especially to eliminate discrimination against patients. In addition, she expressed her intention to raise voices instead of women and children affected by conflicts and refugees causing severe frictions across the world who have difficulties to make voices.

Since Mrs. Akie Abe is also engaged in the social activities related to HIV/AIDS, she responded emphasizing the effective role of education for Infection prevention and for elimination of prejudice. She also talked on the importance of settlement of the refugees' issue.
