Letters of Condolence from Prime Minister TAKAICHI and Foreign Minister MOTEGI on the Passing of the Father Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
On July 14, following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Father Amir of the State of Qatar, on July 12, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, issued a letter of condolence to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar.
In the letter, Prime Minister TAKAICHI expressed her sincere condolences to the Government and people of the State of Qatar, and paid tribute to the Father Amir's achievements in laying the foundations of today's development and prosperity of the State of Qatar, as well as his great contributions to the development of the strong bilateral relationship, including on energy, between Japan and the State of Qatar. Prime Minister TAKAICHI also expressed her gratitude for the warm support extended by the State of Qatar following the Great East Japan Earthquake.
On the same day, Foreign Minister MOTEGI issued a letter of condolence to H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
In the letter, Minister MOTEGI conveyed his sincere sympathies to the bereaved families and to the Government and people of the State of Qatar, and paid respect to the Father Amir's achievements, including his contributions to the development of the economy and society of the State of Qatar, his role in promoting diplomacy in the Middle East, and his immense contributions to Japan's energy security through the stable supply of LNG from the State of Qatar to Japan.
