On July 11 local time (same day Japan time), for approximately 10 mins, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held an informal talk with H.E. Dr. Estephan Anton Salameh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Palestine, on the occasion of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD IV), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The overview is as follows.

  1. Minister Iwaya welcomed Minister Salameh’s participation in CEAPAD IV and expressed his hope that the conference would contribute to promoting CEAPAD’s objectives of expanding assistance to Palestine and diversifying its means. Minister Iwaya also emphasized Japan’s consistent support for a two-state solution and its commitment to assisting Palestinian state-building efforts.
  2. In response, Minister Salameh expressed his appreciation for Japan’s continued support for Palestine, including through its initiatives such as CEAPAD. He also elaborated on the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that an immediate ceasefire is essential for advancing Palestinian development.
  3. In response, Minister Iwaya expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza and stated that Japan calls for the realization of a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible.
